Crowns and Bridges

The goal of Dr. Lee and the caring team at Avalon Family Dentistry is to keep our patients’ teeth in as natural a state as possible. A more long-term goal is to keep YOUR teeth in YOUR mouth as long as possible. Sometimes, teeth can break or decay around the existing filling. A tooth can get to a point where there is not enough natural tooth structure to support just a filling. If the tooth is not fully protected, it can fracture and may need to be removed! This is where crowns come in.

A crown:

  • Is a full coverage restoration.
  • Protects the tooth from fracture.
  • Is made from either gold, gold and porcelain, or porcelain alone.
  • Looks just like a natural tooth.
  • Will give you a restoration that lasts a very long time.

A dental bridge from Federal Way dentist Dr. Lee will replace a missing tooth or teeth to reestablish a “full bite”.

What to expect during your crown/bridge procedure?

  • A painless experience.
  • Any cavity on the anchor tooth will be removed to give your crown the most secure foundation possible.
  • A precise mold will be taken for the dental lab to then make your custom crown.
  • A custom temporary crown will be placed to keep the area protected between appointments.
  • A quick follow-up appointment two weeks later to place your new crown/bridge.

Diligent home care remains vital to give your new crown/dental bridge from Federal Way dentist Dr. Lee the longest possible life! Keep up the great brushing and flossing!
