Dr. Lee firmly believes in offering her patients as many options as possible in order for their dental needs to be met. Dr. Lee offers the option of either amalgam (silver) or composite (tooth colored) dental fillings to her Federal Way patients.
Amalgam (silver) offer a very economical, long-term restoration for cavities in the molar (back) teeth.
Tooth colored fillings:
- Look natural.
- Almost as long-lasting as silver fillings.
- Bonds to teeth.
- Can sometimes cost $20-$40 more out of pocket depending on insurance coverage.
What to expect during your filling procedure:
- Complete comfort since the area will be completely numb.
- Removal of decay and old, defective restorations.
- A completely contoured filling that is adapted to your bite.
- Your filling will completely set upon completion of the procedure versus 24hrs with an amalgam procedure.
- Numbness that may last for a couple hours following your dental appointment, so care must be taken not to bite your cheek or tongue.
- After numbness wears off, you may experience some slight sensitivity to temperature with your new filling. This should subside within a couple weeks, if it occurs at all.
